It is expected that the culminating assignment is complete by the last class day - January 22nd.
What you need to do:
PART 1:
- Choose your best 20 pictures from each of the past four months - 20 from September, 20 from October, 20 from November, and 20 from December - 80 total.
- Give each picture a title that includes your initials and the date (Month.Day.Year) it was taken. Example: NM_Night_Sky_8.12.14
- Ensure that each picture is in .jpeg format and do any necessary cropping or alterations that are needed.
- Save each set of 20 pictures in a folder with the month as a title, and print a contact sheet for each set of 20. That means you will submit 4 contact sheets.
PART 2:
- Choose your 12 best pictures from the semester - there should be an even distribution from over the past 4 months.
- Ensure that each picture is in .jpeg format and has been altered so that it is the best possible picture. Choose these pictures wisely - make sure they show your knowledge of the rule of thirds, composition, ISO and depth of field. The rubric will include marks for the clear demonstration of this knowledge, so make sure your pictures show your understanding.
- Create a folder with your initials and the title '12 Best'. Example: NM_12Best
- Submit your folder to the classes folder - AWQ 30 - '12 Best'.
- Create an 8" x 10" collage using a minimum of 16 pictures.
- Your collage should have either a clear theme, or a clear colour choice. Make use of cropping, filters, and the various photoshop techniques and tools to ensure that your collage looks united and shows your ability with photoshop.
- Save your collage as a .jpeg file and print.
- Choose your favourite 6 pictures.
- Choose 1 of the 6 to alter drastically using photoshop and its filters. Your goal should be to take a great picture and take it to a new realm of artistic impression. Print the original and the altered picture together on one sheet as two 5" x 7" prints.
- Print 4 - 4" x 6" prints.
- Print 1 - 8" x 10" print. This print should be matted to fit an 11" x 14" frame.
PART 5:
- Write a 500 word reflection on your work over the semester.
- about your picture a day work - did you have a theme? did you find this challenging? what did you learn?
- your experience with photoshop
- your growth as a photographer over the course of the semester
- what you have learned
- what you liked the most / what you disliked the most
